Police put a stop to the street racing tonight on Fort Parkway at Castle Vale with a major operation involving several officers and police vehicles.
Officers from a small police van stopped a motorbiker at around 9.45pm at the first roundabout towards the Fort Shopping Centre on the A47.
With the motorbiker being cautioned inside the police van, one of the officers directed more vehicles towards the Spitfire Island end of the A47.
At 10.20 pm, three large police vans moved in with several other police vehicles to block the exit onto Chester Road, and halted traffic.
After some minutes, police allowed traffic to filter slowly through their road block.
Officers questioned and warned several young men on the central reservation, some of whom had been spectators ready for a street racing event.
